Site-Specific Commissions
Clients have commissioned me to create artwork for libraries, corporate offices, hospitals and hotel lobbies, restaurants and private residences.
I will listen to your needs and collaborate with you on your project.
See below for a selection of my site-specific works.
Client: AtlantiCare Foundation for AtlantiCare Medical Arts Pavilion. Sea Glass consists of 18 wave-shaped resin panels suspended from the 24 foot ceiling. The building is close to the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and its sandy beaches. The overall theme of the building is related to the ocean and also has the historical significance of being built on the location of Atlantic City’s first hospital. This new facility will serve families, women and children regardless of ability to pay. The third floor features a dedicated state-of-the-art space for teaching medical personnel. The sculpture depicts abstract soft waves, sky and sand dunes. My goal was to create a soothing and peaceful sculpture that would greet patients as they enter the main entrance into the atrium.
Client: AtlantiCare Foundation Project: Watershed, Feature Wall Commission for AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Pomona, NJ, Ten 4' x 6' painting/ecoresin semi-transparent panels for a 100 foot feature wall. The painting panels are layered with satellite maps of the community served by the hospital and embedded between two layers of ecoresin, which is recycled from water and other bottles. With this bird’s eye view, patients and visitors can examine the art to find the location of where they live or work and know that they are not far from home in what is typically a stressful situation. The aerial view will also remind the viewer about our human presence in an area which must be protected from environmental dangers.
Public Art: Sand Bars, Ocean County Library Suspended Atrium Sculpture Materials: Paint, pigment, dye, foil, thread on industrial textile. Aluminum armature, aircraft cable. Dimensions: Double-sided 6’ x 7’ and 7’ x 6’. Sunlight filtering through ocean shallows. The library theme is abstract ocean.
Client: AtlantiCare Foundation Marsh Triptych, AtlantiCare Health Park, Manahawkin, NJ, Materials: Paint, pigment, dye, foil, thread on industrial textile. Aluminum armature. Client: AtlantiCare Foundation Dimensions: 3 panels as shown each 48” x 56” (48" x 168"), Triptych of nearby marshlands combining my original photos, paintings, hand stitching and applied metallic accents to catch the light. Since the wall is curved, the work hangs soft on hidden aluminum armatures. The theme of the building reflects the surrounding wetlands and supports the theory of evidence-based design for healthcare applications.
